The idea for this project originated while traveling through Brazil in 2008. From April to May of 2009, Annelies did research on the favelas in Recife by living there and conducting a workshop for youngsters. In July, 2010, she returned to Brazil for two months — this time to Rio — to record and visualize stories from the favela, from the people who live there. The reporter worked with people in the favelas of Fo-gueteiro, Rocinha, Cidade Nova and Jardim Gramacho and conducted a number of work-shops: Jornal do Bairro, Rua sem Nome, Bolsa de Bota CI and Hello Rio, Bye-Bye Brussels.
After returning to Brussels, Annelies began an artist in residence at Recyclart. During that period she worked on the process of Jornal de Artigos Não Lidos. During the summer of 2011, the reporter distributed the Jornal de Artigos Não Lidos as wall journals in the public space of Rio de Janeiro.
